I think we all remember the first time we did XYZ…a zipper? a collar? buttons? shirring? You’re mind is racing, doubt tries to sneak it’s way in, you’ve worked so hard to get to that point in the pattern and the last thing you want to do is mess it all up. If you’ve never had a single one of those thoughts you MUST share your secret with us! For the rest of us a little encouragement, a few good how-to videos, and great step-by-step instructions would go a long way into settling those nerves and negative thoughts.
One thing I love about testing for this company is that Shannon is always encouraging and always helping her testers and now her customers break through those fears and take on new techniques and new design features that expand their sewing repertoire! I think 90% of the testers for the Felicia Pattern panicked when they saw the shirring and now they use phrases like its so magical, stunning, i loved it, now I want to shirr everything.
Sewing 101 is here to help guide you and encourage you to try new things. We are with you every step of the way. If you haven’t joined our Facebook group. Our staff, admins and testers would love to share their stories with you and be there every step of the way.
Didn’t find what you need here to sew up one of our designs? Use the contact us or any of the social media avenues and let us know how we can help!

Step 1: Open your newly purchased pattern with Adobe Acrobat Reader
Your pattern will open showing all sizes available for that pattern. To print only the size you need look for the “Layers” icon shown in the image above by the pink arrow and follow Step 2.
Step 2: Click on the layers icon
After you click on the layers icon all of the available sizes will then populate in a menu. There is an “eye” symbol located beside each size as indicated by the pink arrow in the image above. Deselect all of the “eye” symbols except for the size you need AND the “keep this layer on” layer giving you something similar to the image below (selected to print a size 5 pattern piece) Be sure to print your pattern piece as “Actual Size” and always check your 1″ square to confirm that your printer is printing the pattern to size.

Several of the Eunoia Patterns call for cutting on a double fold. This illustration shows how to fold your fabric in preparation to cut the LOI Top flounces on a double fold. For the Kristina Circle Skirt or the Winter Solstice Coat you would use the same method, simply fold over more fabric so that you have the appropriate amount you need for your pattern piece.
